Here i will be analyzing a kerrang music magazine issue. Kerrang is a very popular rock genre magazine.

it contains a masthead which is very bold so that the audience can see what brand the magazine is so they can recognise it straight away. But to make the logo blend in with the magazine they have blended it with a musicians head going through the middle of kerrang. The kerrang logo is the boldest piece of text on the cover for obvious reasons to show the reader what the brand of the magazine is. There is the black writing, which is then outlined with a white border. This is kerrangs house style of having the same logo for each magazine.

There is also a picture of the main feature of the magazine, this is of a musician and this tells the audience the main feature that is going to be inside the magazine. The masthead is along the whole top section of the magazine and it is the same colour logo and type which has been going on every issue for many decades, this makes it easy to recognise and people who want to buy this particular magazine can easily tell this is kerrang. The font used for the Kerrang masthead is used throughout the front cover and inside the magazine, this is another way to make it recognisable to people looking to purchase it. Also the colour scheme's they use for this magazine represents the house style of kerrang which is black and white with yellow aswellfor the masthead and the rest varies in colour which has been used for many years.For the layout the writing is more to the bottom of the page, the headline of the story is in big white letters and a small tag line about the story is underneath in a smaller white font. Also down the left hand side there is four pictures dotted around the left hand side as they explain inside what artists are going to be inside. These each say band names such as my chemical romance, bullet for my valentine, green day and metallica. These pictures all have the house style colours inside with them using the three house style colours of yellow and black writing around the pictures. In the bottom right corner there is the barcode this is placed far away from all the writing and the image so that it doesnt cut across or interfere with the front cover of the magazine. Across the top their is a banner which says "Linkin Park, Led Zeppelin, Enter Shikari, NOFX" this is too show the reader that whats inside normally which is the musicians which will be focused inside the magazine.
